About the 2009 Station Fire

The Station Fire ignited on August 26, 2009, in the Angeles National Forest near La Cañada Flintridge. It became the largest fire in Los Angeles County history, burning for over two months and consuming more than 160,000 acres of mountainous terrain.

The fire was started by arson and resulted in tragic consequences, including the deaths of two Los Angeles County firefighters, Captain Ted Hall and Firefighter Specialist Arnie Quinones, who died when their fire engine rolled over on a steep mountain road while battling the blaze.
